Don’t worry, it’s not made with real chinchilla fur.
I stumbled across this chair on Craigslist and bought it for $20. The bottom side of chair was stamped ’1984 made in Spain’ and the handcarved wood was in fairly good condition. Though most people say that there is never a good reason to cover wood, I couldn’t resist. I had a vision for it. After two trips to the downtown LA fashion district, I came across this super-soft, high-quality faux fur that was perfect to replace the existing 80s textile. Two days of sanding and three cans of spray lacquer later, I took the chair to a small furniture shop on Melrose to be reupholstered. It now happily sits on my living room and is quite the center of attention.
